ways TO Speed computer ____

As you use your computer more and more, speed becomes a larger issue. Maybe you’ve downloaded a bunch of unnecessary freeware or you just have used your computer for quite a while – either way, computers gradually become not so fast.

Disable Unnecessary Windows Services

Windows comes with a bunch of services, or processes, in the background that help the operating system run and do the daily functions a computer does – except some of these are unnecessary. You really do not need to have all of the Microsoft services running in the background at one time – many of which don’t ever need to run at all.

Of course, many windows services are necessary so you need to be very careful what you disable. But if you disable the correct ones you may just be that much closer to a much faster computer.

To disable Windows services:
1. Go to “Start,” “Run,” and type services.msc
2. You may now disable any of the following services based on your use – or non-use – of them:

Stop Programs From Running in Startup

Part of downloading all of that freeware and even just installing work-related applications, a likely part of the installation process, is the unfortunate automatic setting of starting the application on startup. Gradually, your computer takes forever to startup and eventually it becomes ridiculously slow. You could use an application like StartupDelayer to delay programs from starting up (also check out AutoRuns by Karl and WinPatrol by Mark), but many of those applications do not even need to be running at all.

So here is one way to stop those unnecessary applications from running:
1. Go to “Start,” “Run,” and type msconfig.
2. Click on the “Startup” tab.

You should now see a list of all of the programs that automatically start up. Many of these applications are nicely labeled with the correct names, but some are not. If they are not clearly labeled you can just check the path of the file and hopefully find the name of the program, but if not it is probably better to just not remove it.

When you are disabling services make sure not to disable any of the Microsoft Services. Many of the ones that you see on the startup are necessary. Once you have selected the services you do not need, simply click “Apply.”

No matter how powerful our brainsare, they need recuperation time, to be kept in shape, and even an occasionalcharge. Think of it as a tune up for your brain. Skipping brain maintenance isas silly as the person wandering the parking garage because they forgot wherethey parked. Is that you? Are you that person? Sure. We all are at some point. No worries, there is hope.

Now I am not a brain surgeon and I am notgoing to suggest you do anything surgical or dangerous. I am however an astutestudent of human behavior, so I always look for simple ways to super charge mybrain.

15 Spectacular tricks to teach your body

A Healthy body is a vessel for a Healthy mind ...
Similarly a smart mind handles the body smartly
Some tricks that you can learn to bring your body into
harmony based on sound medical principles ...

1.) If you've got an itch in your throat,
scratch your ear. When the nerves in the ear get
stimulated, they create a reflex in the throat that
causes a muscle spasm, which cures the itch.

2.) Having trouble hearing someone at a party or on the
     phone? Use your right ear…
it's better at picking up rapid speech.
But, the left is better at picking up music tones.

3.) If you need to relieve yourself BADLY,
but you're not anywhere near a bathroom,
     fantasize about RELATIONS.
That preoccupies your brain and distracts it.

4.) Next time the doctor's going to give you an injection,
COUGH as the needle is going in.
The cough raises the level of pressure in your spinal
canal, which limits the pain sensation as it tries to
    travel to your brain.

5.) Clear a stuffed nose or relieve sinus pressure
by pushing your tongue against the roof of your mouth…
then pressing a finger between your eyebrows.
Repeat that for 20 seconds…it causes the vomer bone
to rock, which loosens your congestion
     and clears you up.

6.) If you ate a big meal and you're feeling full
as you go to sleep, lay on your left side.
That'll keep you from suffering from acid reflux…
it keeps your stomach lower than your esophagus,
which will help keep stomach acid from
     sliding up your throat.

7.) You can stop a toothache by rubbing ice on the back
of your hand, on the webbed area between your thumb
and index finger.  The nerve pathways there
stimulate a part of the brain that blocks pain signals
     from your mouth.

8.) If you get all messed up on liquor, and the room
starts spinning, put your hand on something stable.
The reason: Alcohol dilutes the blood in the part of
your ear called the cupula, which regulates balance.
Putting your hand on something stable
gives your brain another reference point,
which will help make the world stop spinning.

9.) Stop a nose bleed by putting some cotton on your
upper gums…right behind the small dent below your
     nose…and press against it hard.
Most of the bleeding comes from the cartilage wall
that divides the nose, so pressing there helps
     get it to stop.

10.) Nervous?
Slow your heart rate down by blowing on your thumb.
The vagus nerve controls your heart rate,
and you can calm it down by breathing.

11.) Need to breathe underwater for a while???
Instead of taking a huge breath, HYPERVENTILATE
before you go under, by taking a bunch of short breaths.
That'll trick your brain into thinking it has more oxygen,
and buy you about 10 extra seconds.

12.) You can prevent BRAIN FREEZE by pressing your
tongue flat against the roof of your mouth, covering
as much surface area as possible.
Brain freeze happens because the nerves in the roof of
your mouth get extremely cold, so your brain thinks
       your whole body is cold.
It compensates by overheating…which causes your
head to hurt. By warming up the roof of your mouth,
you'll chill your brain and feel better.

13.)  If your hand falls asleep, rock your head
        from side to side.
That'll wake your hand or arm up in less than a minute.
Your hand falls asleep because of the nerves in your
        neck compressing…
so loosening your neck is the cure.

If your foot falls asleep, that's governed by nerves
lower in the body, so you need to stand up and walk
        around.

14.) Finally, this one's totally USELESS, but a nice trick.
Have someone stick their arm out to the side,
       straight, palm down.
Press down on his wrist with two fingers.
He'll resist, and his arm will stay horizontal.
Then, have him put his foot on a surface that's half an
inch off the ground, like a stack of magazines,
and do the trick again. Because his spine position is
thrown off, his arm will fall right to his side,
no matter how much he tries to resist.

15.)  Got the hiccups?
Press thumb and second finger over your eyebrows
until the hiccups are over - usually shortly.

Shutdown / Reboot Windows From Desktop Shortcut

Have you ever noticed the irony that when you want to shut down your PC, you have to go to the “Start” menu? Well I found an easy way to make a PC shutdown button which sits on the desktop along with a “reboot” button and an “abort” button, which cancels the shutdown or reboot if you change your mind. You don’t have to be a top-notch programmer to do it and the buttons actually prove quite useful.

Just follow the instructions here. Normally I would post screenshots but since I use a German computer, I figured it was pretty useless showing German language screenshots if you don’t know German. But I think the following instructions are clear enough :

1) Right-click on the desktop and choose New then Shortcut.

2) When the box comes up, browse to the file C:\Windows\System32\Shutdown.exe, click Next, name the shortcut, and click Finish.

3) Now right-click on your new shortcut and choose Properties. In the Target box (the box which shows the location of the Shutdown.exe program), attach one of the following commands at the end: -l (to log off), -s (to shut down), or -r (to reboot).

If you also add the command -t xx (where xx is a number of seconds), your shutdown procedure will display a warning and countdown before activating. I chose 10 seconds which is more than enough time.

You can also specify a comment to be displayed with the warning by adding the command -c “Your text”. This is quite amusing as you can give yourself a personalised shutdown message such as “Goodbye Mark!”

Once the shutdown / reboot button is activated, the only way to stop the computer from shutting down / rebooting is to launch the shutdown program again with the -a (for abort) command in the target box of the shortcut. So it would be best to repeat the above process and also make an “abort” button for your desktop too

Ten tips for safe browsing

The importance of Internet Security is heard by most of the PC users but actually taken care by few of them. Safety while browsing sites on the web is very important. When I talk about Internet Security it reminds me of famous old saying ‘Prevention is better than cure’ also applies here better be prevented rather than been attacked by virus, trojans and scammers and run in trouble. So its require that you take safe techniques to prevent your pc from being hacked or served with trojans.

Following are the steps to ensure that you stay away from the harmful content on the web. I have summed up all together points.

1. Beside have antivirus protections its better to have a software dedicated for internet security. Few such programs are Kaspersky Total Internet security and Norton Internet Security which not only comes for Antivirus but offers spyware protections too. These security tools to keep you away from viruses, spyware, worms, phishing, Online identity thefts, cybercriminals, dangerous downloads, infected websites. This will cost you few dollars but will ensure your pc is safeguarded from virus as well as internet protection.

2. So everyone knows that you can earn money online and since you know you must be searching out for the content online. Be away from frauds like – ‘Decrease your weights in 10 minutes’, ‘become millionaire over night’ and other such things which looks like supernatural. I believe that ‘things which are above the normal level are always scam or fraud method’, to I stay away from those. This is the most easiest ways to get yourself into trouble, which may lead to unsecure payment or unsecure downloads.
3. Its better to keep your personal information limited to certain access on the web. Make sure what is necessary and what is not and proceed accordingly.

4. Try to keep your email ID secure and provide where ever its essential. Once caught it will be added to. I receive at least 100 such Phishing mails, scam mails daily to my Gmail inbox but thanks to Gmail that I never look at that folder since it delete them after 1 month automatically.

5. Try to memorize your password or Login credentials instead of letting your browser to remember password and login details. If browsing from internet cafe or shared computers or college PC’s then ‘Remember my password’ is strict No No.

6. Try to avoid or its better not to open adult sites, porn sites on your computer browser. Its found that searching for keygens, key finder, cracks and serial keys also injects virus. Most complaints from people comes because of them since they inject malware to your pc if you don’t have a latest updated antivirus.

7. Its better to disable cookies on your browser and if wanted you can enable it by visiting your trusted sites. Google AdWords generally places cookies on your browser but they doesn’t poses any risk.
8. Always block pop-ups windows on your browser. Firefox had Ad Block plus for blocking pop-ups. It’s shocking that Indian’s official railways portal pop-ups at least 2 ads when clicked on any page and this is one of the largest access portal for train information. I noted that it makes Rs 10 crore’s from all advertising networks. So security hear is also important.

9. Never download/install untrustworthy software’s and make sure you download them from trusted and official sites.

10. Never open or visit pages which distribute harmful software’s and also this might steal private information or might damage your system.
